EDITORIAL MAKEUP - 4/15

I've gotten really into TikTok recently, and specifically, I really like makeup TikToks. Editorial makeup is a really broad prompt, and since e-girls fall under the umbrella, I decided to try this type of look. My main inspiration was onigirinana, an extremely popular makeup account on TikTok that mostly does e-girl makeup. I decided a cutesy, strawberry inspired look would work well for what I had and what I wanted to do.

I've really enjoyed the past two weeks - I was getting really sick of gluing down my brows. For this look, I used a lot of red lipstick to create the intense blush looks, and used a lot of liquid eyeliner to create the exaggerated eye shapes. An interesting detail of e-girl makeup is the exclamation mark shaped highlight on the nose and the blushing on its tip - it creates a cutesy, exaggerated button nose that's really become a token of the look. White freckles are another highlight, especially since they stand out better against the heavy blushing. I was less exact with their shape because I wanted them to resemble strawberry seeds. To finish the look, I decorated my hair with barrettes and brushed it down to look more feminine.

What I Learned

I definitely didn't have all the materials necessary to create a complete e-girl look - most e-girls wear false eyelashes and use white eyeliner on their lower lids - but with what I had, I think I did pretty well in capturing the general highlights of the look. This makeup was really fun to do, and I'd love to try it again, though I wouldn't wear it out. I'd really love to make something as polished as onigirinana's e-girls!
