DRAG MAKEUP - 3/31

RESEARCH

Most of the final look is more based, visually, on what I actually had in my closet that could complement the look. I landed on kind of a "rainbow wizard" concept. This research is more in regards to contouring and facial hair. I tend to make an older king rather than a younger, so I leaned into that by using Nick Offerman as an inspiration.

BEFORE

AFTER

Even though it wasn't mentioned in the tutorial we did, I glued down my brows. I had a specific look in mind that involved rainbow eyebrows! While I waited for the glue to dry, I brushed ivory into my hair and then painted in the colors of the rainbow. After the brows were nice and caked with concealer, I painted in the shapes with red and then added the other colors of the rainbow. It wasn't nearly as difficult as I thought it'd be! I started contouring, first with shadow, and finished with highlights. The final touch was adding facial hair.

What I Learned

I learned to not be as afraid of painting brows on - as long as I follow the shape of my actual brows, it isn't that hard! These ended up a bit higher than my actual brows, but whatever. I also realized that I need to go lighter with my cheekbone shadows near the middle, and maybe change the color - they just look like shadows cast on my face rather than hollows. Still, I'm really proud of this look and I only wish I had my nice camera when I was taking photos! Hopefully I can salvage what I've got.
